Smith Triple Lock
Have not seen this one yet, but possible 70+% .44 Target model triple lock. What is the going market price on these (my guess - $2500.00). My Cousin knows a guy who knows a guy who is willing to put it up for auction. I know that your standard answer will be "not enough info" - but that is all I have for now. I'll update or list it on GB as soon as I can get the deal a little more concrete

You are right, we need more information before anyone can give any kind of a guesstamate as values of these revolvers vary so much. Prices very from $400-$9000 depending on model, caliber, barrel length and finish.
The first model triple lock was made from 1908-1915 and from serial number 1-15375. The standard caliber was .44 S&W Special, but a number of other calibers were also chambered. Barrel lengths were 4",5",6-1/2"and 7-1/2", with the 6-1/2" standard. The standard finish was blue with nickel as an option.
The second model was made from 1915-1937 in the serial number range 15376-to about 50000. Finish, barrel lengths,and calibers were the same as the first model. .44-40 and .45 Colt will bring a premium and .38-40 is very rare. Target revolvers in the first and second model will bring 50% more then the standard models.
Be sure that the revolver is indeed a triple lock. The S&W 44 Hand Ejector third model looks like the other two models, but, does not have the third lock. these revolvers were made between 1926-1950 and in the serial number range 28358-61412. Most of the target revolvers are found in this model. In the third model, target revolvers only bring about $100 over standard models.

Last weekend I saw my first Triple Lock at a local gun show. It truly is a masterpiece revolver and I've got to have one someday. It was in excellent condition. The best I've seen comparing the finish to others that have been up for auction. One problem, it had the barrel length was cut to 5". How much would this de-value the gun? Other than that it was completely stock. A man with six Triple Locks confirmed this. All numbers matched as well. Serial number is 11,2xx and its the standard .44 special. The seller was asking $1100 which I felt was too high. It didn't sell and we swapped phone numbers. Who knows?? 0 -

Interesting handle to say the lest! Anyway, are you sure that the barrel had been cut, as a 5" barrel was offered as a factory option. You saw the revolver, so I will take your word on it. Yes, I think that the price was to high by at lest 30% for a triple lock with a cut barrel.

I consider the gun in the pictures to be 60-65%
It is factory nickle.
I looked for ten years find one to buy. When you start getting into low production items that become popular, it's whatever the market will bear. One sold a little over a year ago on the auctions for around $500.00, it looked like a twin to mine. It had much later grips on it and was a nickle over factory blue gun.
In my experience from looking for mine, Target sights add considerably to the price. That is what I wanted I settled for fixed sights just to have a triple lock.

I sold the blued model of the pistol in the pictures in about 85%-90% condition a few years ago for $400.

The barrel was cut because some of the forward most stamping was missing and a phony front sight. Your right on Iroquois Scout. I had $850 in mind. Although I might throw in an extra $50 due to the condition of the finish.
