I would say you have plastic build up from wads. Get your self a tornado brush, and some brake cleaner, and go to work. Use only the brake cleaner from Auto-zone, if you can, it doesn't eat things it shouldn't eat.
The patteren on the blueing, is from some-one using cold blue, Is my guess. K.J.S.

ked-mar, thanks...Do tornado brushes have nylon bristles or brass. I've got some bottle brushes from my days as a machinist that have little abrasive action to them. I thought I might give them a try.
    (gotta save the $$ y'know)

    Hi.
The tornado brush I'm refering to is a twisted stainless rope type brush. You can find them a Wally-Mart, for a few dollars. I'm afraid, that your nylon brush Isn't strong enought for this job.
Run the tornado brush through the bore several times, and you can see it peeling the plastic from the barrel. Coat a patch with the brake cleaner, and really get it wet. Let it set for a few min., then add more cleaner to the bore. Do this several times, and the cleaner will soften the plastic. Them run the brush through, till the plastic is scraped out.
Some one on this forum, had a product, that he said would take the plastic out in one solid tube, but I've never seen this done.
It would probably be easy with his method, if it works. I clean my skeet, sporting clays, and Trap guns the way I told you.
    Hope this helps. K.J.S.
