Marlin 1870 Model 336 Anyone know the value?

[?] I would like to know what my Marlin 1870 Model 336 is worth. Cal. 30-30 lever action, open site, Walnut stock. It dose not have any letter(s) behind the Model 336. It is in Fine condition. My father received it as a Christmas gift. I think I was about 13 years old at the time. I am 48 now and it has been in our family for 35 years or so. He was just to old to hunt anymore so he gave it to me and I will give it to my son or grandson. If you know what it is worth please email me or leve a note.

    Not sure,but I don't think they used the 336 designation in 1870.Can you give a better description/model no. of the rifle??

    I believe the 1870 is the patent date as that is the year Marlin applied for their US Patent. The Model 336 was Manf. 1948 thru 1980 and there was a pause from 1962 to 1973. Depends on the configuration of your rifle, calibre etc.

    The model 336 is still in production, and the big bore configuration is called the 336 1895. I find no listings for a 336 1870. Very, very nice condition is not a sufficient description for even a ballpark valuation.

    Marlin had a 1870-1970 anniversary edition in .30-30 that has a gold medallion in the stock . Could this be the one. If it is its worth maybe 25%ore than the standard 336 from that same year.

    I.Shute if you don't know were a rifle is stamped with the model number and or name you need to read a little more about rifles. Anyone that knows anything about rifles don't have to ask a question like that unless the gun is very old or rare.
