Question on 1911 essex frame
I have been told that a 1911 beavertail grip safety that fits a standard Essex 1911 .45 frame is as out of date as a 7 round magazine for a 1911 .45. I don't have a problem with the 7 round magazine, and I still want this grip safety. Does anyone still make the standard beavertail gripsafety that does not require altering the gun frame?

The Essex is a standard M1911A1 frame. Any beavertail that fits an M1911A1 will fit the Essex.
I built my competition gun on an Essex frame back in the '70's and I haven't seen anything newer that shoots any better.
The basic 1911 design is 92 years old. If it's so out-of-date, why are there so many copies and clones out there?

I have 2 guns that I built on Essex frames and I used a Wilson drop in Beaver tail grip safety on one of them. It works well on it without any modifications. 0 -
I sent an e-mail to Brownells. Where would I find the WIlson dropin gripsafety? 0 -
