Question on 1911 essex frame

The Essex is a standard M1911A1 frame. Any beavertail that fits an M1911A1 will fit the Essex.

I built my competition gun on an Essex frame back in the '70's and I haven't seen anything newer that shoots any better.

The basic 1911 design is 92 years old. If it's so out-of-date, why are there so many copies and clones out there?

I have 2 guns that I built on Essex frames and I used a Wilson drop in Beaver tail grip safety on one of them. It works well on it without any modifications.
