Browning HP "T" series

A friend wrote to tell me of acquiring a "T" series Hi-Power. I assume that's a desirable designation but don't know why. Are certainseries of HP's a bit like Winchester's pre-'64 models, better craftsmanship than others? I've always liked the looks of the pistol but don't know a great deal about changes to the original design through the years. Any Hi power fans out there? Appreciate it.

  The Browning Hi Power is one of my favorite 9mm automatics. FN made a number of design changes to the pistol over the years and the "T" in T-Series means the appearence of the visable extractor in around 1962. Previous pistols used an internal extractor. All T-series pistols use the T as a serial number prefix. Also check to see if the pistol has a round or a spur type hammer. The early round hammers are more desireable from a collectors stand point. There are three basic T-series Hi Power's: The basic pistol with fixed sights, the tangent rear sight version, and my personal favorite- the tangent sight pistol with the slotted back strap- sometimes refered to as the Capitan. I have one of these with the round hammer and since it was purchased direectly from FN and brought into the USA by an individual assigned to NATO, it bears only the FN factory markings, no Browning commercial markings or importers stamps of any kind. With the factory shoulder stock it makes for an interesting collectable. Let me know if you need more specific information.
