problems with stripper clips
i am having problems getting stripper clips to work for me with my sks. probably just my clumsy self but all the cartridges do not come off before the ones on the strip bunch up and jam..any suggestions? thanks..mike

a. Be sure clip is fully inserted to top of magazine
b. Keep the side of your thumb firmly against the clip as you use the 'pad' of that thumb to push on the base of the top cartridge to drive all of the cartridges in the clip into the magazine.

When I first started using stripper clips, I was pushing the middle of the top cartridge. I usually didn't get them all out either. Later, I figured out putting my thumb on top of the round near the clip, then use my fingers to grip the bottom of the stock, my problem went away. I could still get them all even after I put a scope on it, but it is slightly more difficult. Practice, you'll probably get it. If not, try someone else's SKS and see if you can do it on theirs. Maybe your spring is extra tight or strong. If this is the case, you can leave a few rounds in it all the time when it is stored and the spring will eventually lighten its tension.

Oil the grooves in your stipper clips that the back of the shell cases slide along in.
Also bend the tabs of your stripper clips back a small amount so that they put a little bit less tension on the shells, but not so much that they fall out when you shake a loaded stripper clip.0 -
