browning takedown 22lr problem
After firing 4 rounds or so thru my grade 1, a spent shell gets hung up when the bolt is closing. The shell seems to be making its way clear on the retract of the bolt, however, I'm no expert. I normally shoot standard K-mart issue CCI l.r. rounds thru it.
I've had this rifle for 20 years and it's always done this. (bought it used).
The s/n under the bbl. is 4T3165. On top, stamped "Browning Arms Co. St Louis & Montreal P.Q." and on side: "Made in Belgium"
Any idea of it's date of mfg. and value would also be helpful.

Are the 2 sections loose when assembled? And, if so, did you follow the factory barrel adjustment procedure?

You might try using a different brand of ammo, I have one of these rifles and CCI's just don't seem to work good in them 0 -

Nmyers - It seems to be locking together just fine. I'm not familiar with the adjustment procedure you mentioned. 0 -
Not trying to be a smartass, but has the gun been thoroughly cleaned? Most extraction/ejection/feeding problems in .22 rifles are solved by a good scrubbing. 0 -
Hi 44mag,
I have two of these rifles and my dad and uncle each have one also.
None of these rifles will shoot and feed reliably with anything
except copper coated bullets. I also have "fixed" many of these in
my shop by a good cleaning and shooting only copper coated bullets
in them. Don't know why but all of them that I have ever fooled
with would not reliably feed just the lead nosed ammo.

Orca, It sounds like you're on the right track re the jamming - clean action and copper-coated cartridges. As to the $value, I saw one trade Saturday at a gun show (1966 model I believe) for $450.00. It was very clean, original-looking, very plain wood and really good blue, didn't appear to ever having had a scope. I don't see nice ones selling below $400.00 here and they do go higher.
