Mini-14
I did not want to hi-jack the other thread.
Did Ruger ever sell a factory folder mini-14 that was not a GB model? I have seen a mini-14 with what appears to be a factory folding stock with no bayonet lug on the barrel. The front sling attachment was on the side suggesting that this is a factory folding stock. Did somebody have a GB folder and just changed the barrel out?

Welcome to the forum, Lt. I have 2 mini's. One a preban ss and the other the full auto (AC556) ver. Well built rifle, Ruger doesn't make junk. It really can't shoot with a good AR though.

Ruger=fairly good quality for the price.
Mini 14 is great for plinking.
To use in a bullzeye competition, not the best choice (stock).
What are you going to use it for?

Welcome Lt. I have a Mini-14 Ranch .223. I've had it for 3 years, and really like it. Tough little rifle, just like my M-14. They are not accurate though, for some reason. I've reloaded about every bullet and powder combo available, and 2" @100yds off the bench is the absolute best. Good jack rabit, coyote and badger type acro, and absolutely reliable. Just depends on what you plan on using it for I guess. Good shooting!!

The Mini 14 was a good Idea when it first came out. The factory mags., which are the best to use, are a bit on the costly side. They will not out shoot an AR and are not as durable as an AK. The Pre ban ie the GB model would be the way to go if you purchase one. I would rather have an armalite or bushmaster. My 2 cents [8D]

I really like my Mini 14. I've got a stainless one and I've never had a problem. I just use it for general plinking and I don't know if it's the most accurate gun in the world. I have an AR15 also. I find the Mini 14 is very reliable and fun to shoot.

The rest basically covered it. I have one, love it, but not as accurate as my AR-15. I just like the feel of it though, compared to the AR. Good luck! 0 -
I just bought one and have been doing some reading on another board. They say you can get a 1" to 2" moa for about $100 plus the price of a decent scope. I am getting ready to send my trigger in to have it done (going to have a 4lb. trigger) and I am going to get a new gas bushing and a bolt buffer all for $50. It is a fun gun to shoot.

Out of the box good reliable inacurate gun. had a stainless one but wouldn't feed with aftermarket mags. sold it. saw an article in an old varmint hunters mag for under 1 moa accuracy with heavy barrel and new stock probably cost $500+ your rifle . easy to clean and nice feel so determine your accuracy needs and then decide you'd be ahead of the game by just getting a bushmaster AR 0 -
Ive had one for two years and they are a good coyote and fox gun . Accuracy out of the box is poor I tried a lot of different things and found a bolt on piece that simulates a heavy barrel and with 68 gr bullets it shoots good. I can pretty reliably group 21/2-3 inches at 200 yards. Factory mags are best but I have two 20 rd from precision mag that have never jammed yet. Its a fun gun and well worth the price compared to other more expensive .223. 0
