Nickle Plating gone
Does anyone out there know who can reblue or
parkerize a top break lemonsqueezer 38 S&W ctg.
having had limited experience with plating I know
that the nickle is electrically adhered over a base
of copper, but have not been able to find anyone
that can tell me if this is possible or not.
HELP
And Thanks

Yes, it's possible. Plating is done by passing an electric current through an aqueous solution. Traces of an old plating job can be removed by reversing the procedure. The gun can then be blued, parkerized, or even replated.
You can have it replated by the guys who do car bumpers, but don't expect them to do anything more than drop it in the tank and hope for the best. If you want it done by someone who knows plating AND handguns, call Pittsburgh Handgun (412-766-6100).
Personally, I wouldn't do this project. It will be expensive if done right, and there's always the possibility that your gun will need parts that are no longer available.

Neal,
Funny you should mention Pittsburgh Handgun. Colt recommends them to do the bluing jobs that Colt will not do. I have an old Colt model 1903 38acp that I want to have re-blued, but Pittsburgh is not open on Monday. I'm going to call tomorrow.
