Best scope mount for a SKS?

What is the best (or your favorite) scope mount for a SKS? I'm looking for a secure mount with a "see thru" design so I can still use my iron sights.

I currently have a 3-9x40 scope mounted to my SKS with a Leapers scope mount (example seen here: http://www.forthehunt.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=7755132), but I am not happy with it. It frequently comes loose and does not hold zero.

I'm considering getting one of these mounts: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/sksseethrust.html . Seems like a solid design.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

    I looked at the links you provided. The "Red Star" is one that I have used with success several times, although they seem to have changed a little. The model I'm familiar with was a little higher (this one does say, "low profile") and the see through part was not a tunnel like this one appears to be. I'd take a chance on this one--the price is right and it's less complicated than the Leaper's version.

    Actually the Red Star mount isn't one I was considering because it does not offer the "see thru" design I'm looking for. Besides the Leapers mount I already have, this is the only other mount I am considering: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/sksseethrust.html

    Unless anyone else has a suggestion for a better mount?

    Well, Wild Bill, I looked at the other mount; and frankly, from a side view the Red Star could also be a see-thru. But, it's probably not--since it's not advertised as such. I used to buy them from Cheaper Than Dirt, among others. You might check with them to see if they have any of the other Red Star Model. I would prefer it to what you're looking at. I can try to send you an on-line photo on Thursday, if you'd like.

    I've been through several see-thru mounts on SKS's, and haven't found one to be worth a darn -- including the one you are looking at. I gave up and just use iron sights. Between scope mounts and removable mag conversion kits, I've come to the belief that the best SKS is the un-accessorized SKS. [B)]

    I also am about ready to scrap the scope in lieu of iron sights. I'm actually fairly accurate with my SKS with just the use of iron sights. But just out of curiosity, what problems did you experience with mounts similar to the one I am considering?

    We went through this last week about those dam# leapers - any mount needs to be secured to the lower in order to hold your zero. Mine is a mount welded to the cover but extends down and is secured to the lower with set screws. Your receiver cover has some play in it that you can't really do anything about. The only other option is one of the B-square side mounts set directly on the lower. Then you can still remove the cover for cleaning without loosing zero.... hope this helps...
