Value of a L2A1
I am looking for two awnsers i would like the value on a L2A1 ausse rifle it is in cherry condition berral and all parts and the second question is where can i get the dates of mft of Enterprize Arms of Irwendale calf. on there recievers for proof of pre or post ban. Thank You BiggerHammer [B)]

You can reach Enterprise Arms at 626-962-8712, ask about the serial number of your rifle and see if they can date it for you. Don't be too surprised if this turns out to be a receiver with an Australian parts kit assembled onto it- either by Enterprise or someone else. I had Enterprise do this for me with a brand new L1A1 kit and one of their inch pattern receivers- it came out GREAT. Enterprise inch pattern receivers retail at $449 so simply add the price of the parts kit (maybe $500 for a L2 kit) and about $150 for the assembly fee to get the base cost of your rifle. Value beyond this point is determined by the over all condition. There were only a few hundred real Australian FAL type semi auto rifles imported into this country prior to the 1989 ban and these sell for huge money.

I am sure that it is a pre ban becouse the fella i got it from had it for years and i was trying to get him to sell or trade it to me and finily I had got a win grand he wanted but if my old farmer memery serves it was before 94 when i first learned about this rifle. Unfortunately I was living in the P R K during that time frame. If my memory serves me, Enterprise didn't go into business untill the mid 90's? 0 -
Clearly a L2 rifle with receiver made in Irwindale California is not going to be an original Australian rifle! There were about 200 preban Australian L1A1 rifles made by Lithgow and imported by Poyer in around 1988. These are highly sought after by collectors and sell for $4000 and up- often way up. For foreign made assualt weapons preban means imported prior to 1989 when George Bush Sr. impossed a ban on the importation of semi automatic rifles with military features such as pistol grips, bayonet lugs, folding stocks, ect. This has zero to do with the 1994 Crime Bill. The 1989 ban is why you saw so many L1A1 type rifles with thumbhole type stocks- pistol grips are banned on imported semi automatic rifles. If your rifle has a pistol grip it was either imporrted prior to 1989- and it was not imported from Irwindale, California- or it was assembled here in the United States. Call Enterprise on Monday and ask them when the reciever was produced. I doubt that they will tell you that they imported it from Australia prior to 1989!

Thank for the replys I will try to call them and see if and when but all and all I like the rifle and I am going to keep it you never know I might have to defend the farm and after shooting this one I can say it is on the money and don't take your sholder off too do it.
