Apeture sight

I know this is gonna sound stupid, but I got an AR-15 in December and I never had a rifle with an apeture sight before. How do you use it properly?

  It is about like standard sights, EXCEPT, You align the tip of the front sight in the center of the appeture. Some AR appetures have a small line cut across the center line. Then place the tip of the front sight,while align in the appeture, at the point of impact on the target. Much the same as regular sight ecept you have a "peep" hole instead of a notch in the rear sight. Once you get accustomed to them, "peep" or appeture sight do have advantages, sight picture for one. This is why military rifles are equipted with them.
