Price on a custom S&W revolver
What should I expect to pay for a custom, blued .357 S&W model 19-3 with a 6 inch Colt Python barrel. Gun has had a trigger job, hammer work, cylinder work, and is in excellent condition. It was built in 1987. Thanks in advance for any help on this subject.

I had one. Called a SMYTHON..hell of a gun. Was stolen from a friend. Not many made Most were made in the 70's. If it is Magna-ported may be my gun and refinished. (one can always hope)... 0 -
You're basically looking at something along the lines of customized revolver that's rebarreled. Take the base price of a nice 19, add about $200 for the work and the cost of a barrel (see Brownells.com for that). If a well known gunsmith did the work and stamped his name on the gun, that would raise the value of it. Getting such a gun without a long wait for all the work might add a few bucks
For someone who uses S&Ws and prefers them to Colt, it sounds like a nice gun. But a good Python would pretty much deliver the same goods.

I was outbid for one of these on the auction about a year ago. It was a Smython,I don't remember what it sold for.

There was an article about such a conversion in G&A in the 70's. I believe they called it a Smolt. 0
