Ruger Scope Rings

I have a Ruger 77/44 and did have a standard model 77 I sold. I gave the guy what I thought were the rings for the standard model, but today I tried to put a 2.5x scope on the 77/44, and no matter which way I put them on, one of the pair was way to high compaired to the other ring. My question, are their different Ruger rings for different Model 77s? No, I didn't get the pairs mixed up, both pairs were still new in the pkg Ruger sent them in.

  Will the Ruger scope rings that come with the Model 77/17 work (without using blocks) with a 30mm objective lens? 40mm?

  Should work with either one.

  30 or 32 for sure, 40 probably...

  I believe I have mounted a 44mm lens on a Ruger. Certainly 40mm.
