Can anyone give me info on "special thompson submachine gun blanks"
Saw a box at a gun show recently, marked "Stembridge gun rentals
at paramount studios, hollywood ca." box is marked
Special Thompson sub-machine gun blanks.

  Stembridge's rents firearms of all types to the movie industry. That ammo is what they called 4-in-1 blanks. Used in all kinds of firearm and gave a bigger flash than real ammo does. It's for the movies and tv. Special blank loads likely to operate the heavy bolt of a Chopper. The box you saw would have be stolen from some movie or tv set.

  Stembridge makes blank ammo in many different calibers for the film / TV industry. It shows up as a 'collectible' from time to time. The five in one blank was made by major commercial companies for those producing Westerns, as it would shoot in .45 LC, plus .38 WCF & .44 WCF, both handgun and rifle, which covered most prop revolvers and lever actions.

  The Thompson does not use the 5 in 1 blank, but rather either the old long case special riot case or the standard .45 ACP case, which may be a form of "full case" blank, like the old Frankford Gatling blanks.
  (O.K., Miss Peach, diagram THAT sentence.)
  The 5 in 1 resembles a .38-40 WCF as noted above, and fits the .303 British, .30-40 Krag,.38-72 WCF, .40-72 WCF, .405 WCF and cases based on that head size.
