shotgun chamber

quick question, not knowing much about shotguns, i am wondering if it is safe to shoot a 2 3/4 shell in a single shot shotgun that has a
3 " chamber... back of mind says yes but i'm not sure anymore...

  Yes you can. If it has a 3" chamber, you can shoot both 2 3/4 and 3" shells , but not 3 1/2" shells.

  Short answer yes it's either or (2 3/4) (3")
  I have a Savage 20 ga pump that is 3" and all I have ever shot in it is 2 3/4

  As a matter of fact, it may shoot better with 2 3\4, because the forceing cone has already been lengthened. I cut at least 3" chambers, or more on my Trap guns. K.J.S.
