    It might be possible to use the copperized bullets from National Bullet, but my suggestion is that if you have gun that needs jacketed bullets for reliable operation, you are better off just using them. I realize that this makes the Desert Eagle kind of expensive to feed, but it's not like you will go broke doing it if you handload and don't shoot it a lot. Most people compare ammo costs and say a 44 Mag is expensive, but you aren't likely to shoot more than a couple of boxes in a session compared to the 9mm guy who will burn through double that in an average session.

    My next-door neighbor loads a semi-jacketed bullet (HP & SP) for his 44D.E. The bullet from the first 1/4 of the ogive to the tip does not factor into leading of the Bbl or plugging the gas system.


    I've *heard* that loading lead at lower velocities with gas checks are also acceptable, but take that with a grain of salt.
