Goddag Olafur. I have a close friend from Iceland with the same name and we call him Oli. The S55 was the first of the Berreta shotguns to be manufacured without the need for hand fitting and could be assembled after being blued rather than fitted and then finished- a real cost cutter. The S55 guns were introduced in 1956 and discontinued in 1970. I have no means of identifying the year of production by the serial number, but near the shotguns proof marking there should be a Roman Numeral or two letter code. If you can provide me with those codes I can figure the date your shotgun was made. Farvel.

Oli, your Beretta was made in 1968. We have several member of the Gun Broker family from foreign countries and it is always nice to know that people from all over the world appreciate fine firearms like your Beretta. Farvel.
