Liberty Safe/ Cannon Safe

I have the opportunity to purchase a Cannon safe and a Liberty safe both the same size for the same price. The cannon has the 3 spoke handle and electronic lock the Liberty has the single handle and a combo with key. Anyone have any experience with either of these safes? I would apppreciate any input.

    I have the Liberty with the key lock. I have heard that the electronic loks are or can be a pain. I love my Liberty. JM2CW

    The largest liberty safe dealer on the east coast is right up the road from me here in Myrtle Beach, SC and I've been to his store several times. I am very impressed with the Liberty safes for the money and have heard of bad experiences with the electronic do dads. If you want true fire and theft protection, I hate to tell ya, but none of the safe manufacturers I've found offer total protection. You can beef up your odds by placing the safe in strategic places that won't be exposed to as much heat and smoke due to fire and you can bolt the safe down to deter robbers. I must tell you though, that statistics say most guns stolen from gun safes are not by breaking into the safe, it's because the robbers load up the whole enchilada and break it open once they get it back to "their" house. The one very cool solution I've found to all of this is to purchase a vault. The same guy here in SC with Liberty safes recommends this. He goes into old banks, closed jewelry stores, etc. and buys the vaults and customizes them to your liking on the inside. You can get one of these customized refurbs from him for likely the same or less than you'd pay for a "gun safe". These vaults need to go into your basement or garage, but I gotta tell ya, nobody's gonna walk of with one of these fella's. These vaults weigh up to 10 or 15 thousand pounds and really can't be torched open either. Long reply, but I hate seeing people spent 1,2, and 3 grand on these "gun safes" that can just walk away if somebody really wants your stuff...........Hope this helps

    I have 2 Cannon safes and I like them both. They both have dial combinations with keys for locking the dial.
    One has a krinkle paint job, and the other a high gloss black paint job. My safes are a few years old. Cannon now offers the push button ecectric combo.

    I have both Libety & Fort Knox. Both good but Fort Knox too high priced for what you get. Fire proofing is totally worthless.All it adds is extra weight that you have to move. It does nothing to protect your stuff because it takes way too long for any fire departmant to get to your house to put out the fire.By the time they get there the heat & not the fire has destroyed your guns.Just bolt the safe down where you want it.

    I HAVE TWO LIBERTYS ONE WENT THROUGH A FIRE IT WASNT A BAD ONE BUT IT WORKEDS. I HAVE THREE THINGS TO SAY LIBERTY, LIBERTY, LIBERTY OR GIVE ME RUST.

    The dealer should be able to change the dial to a electronic (extra $)if desired. One advantage to the electronics is that you can change the combo in about 5 minutes (or less).
    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    I also have a Liberty with the combo and key. I compared it to many before buying, and it seemed like the best deal for the money. I really like it, my only regret is not getting a bigger one.

    Gmayes, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. Here is the info on the Liberty safes dealer. You can also go to http://www.libertysafe.com/ and type in your zip code to find a dealer near you. I'm sure the guy in SC will ship to you, but you may be able to save by purchasing closer to you on the shipping. If you want one of his vaults, shipping may be heavy, but I'll assure you that after seeing these customized buggers, it's the way to go.

    I just bought a Liberty safe from Eastern Security safe in Mendon MA and they delivered it (no way in hell could I lift it!) It is the 23 cubic foot model with the S&G electronic lock and is rated fire resistant for 30 minutes, I do not feel the need to bolt it down because no one person could lift it to steal it. I also discussed the lock because I have a regular Liberty safe with a combo/key lock and he told me the electronic lock was better because it was a class 2 compared to the combo which is a class 1 so I got the electric lock and LOVE it, no numbers to fumble with my bad eyes! Talk to your local safe dealer and he will let you know the class rating on the locks etc.... But I love my new Liberty safe.(Gloss black with gold accents)Bought and professionally delivered for less than 1500.00! Even with the dehumidifier!
