Take-down instruction for Colt 1900

I recently acquired a mdl 1900 and would like to take it down for cleaning; can anyone tell me of a site or book describing the process? Does it have to do with the cross slide at the front of the frame? Thanks. Emery

  Lucky you!
  Yes it's the cross slide.
  Look bellow the cross slide on the frame and you will see a small hole. Prepare a pin that will enter that hole and pull the slide back for about 1/3" or so and insert the pin. The purpose of the pin is to hold the recoil spring rod which holds the cross slide in its position. Push the bolt forward and remove the cross slide.
  Now you can pull the slide all the way back out of the frame.

  This information is from www.coltautos.com it's a excellent site, go there it has a lot of pertinent information relating to the Model 1900.
  
  
  
  Always make sure pistol is unloaded!
  
  1. Open up a large paper clip.
  
  2. Cock hammer and remove magazine
  
  3. Turn pistol upside down and pull back slide approximately 1/2" holding it in that position.
  
  4. Insert unbent end of paper clip through hole in the lower front frame until it touches the slide lock.
  
  5. Leave paper clip in that position and release slide to move forward. There should now be play in slide movement. (paper clip should remain in this position until pistol is reassembled.)
  
  6. With the left side of the pistol facing down, the slide lock should drop out. Now the slide can be withdrawn from the rear. No force is required to remove the slide lock. The slide lock will only exit the pistol from the left side.
  
  7. Assemble in reverse order remembering to line up the small pin on the slide lock with the corresponding cut in the slide. Make sure lock is securely in place before removing paper clip.
  
  NOTE: Further disassembly of the Model 1900 requires the removal of pins and is not recommended.
