model A or model B?? Uzi
if both are in the same condition and both are pre ban which one would be of more value? Many thanks to all who take the tine to answer

I may be wrong but,,, I think the Model A is open bolt and was designed much like th original UZI. The ability to convert to full auto would be easier if you were so inclined. The Model B is a closed bold weapon. It will be more accurate than the Model A in semi auto mode. For colletors value the A model is better. For shooting the B. Then agani for shooting I would not choose the UZI. My 2 cents [8D]

The Model A UZI Carbine, according to the Blue Book of Gun Values, by Fjestad, is worth about $75 more than the Model B Carbine in like condition. Collectors prefer the Model A.
Contrary to some folks, ALL Factory Semi Auto UZI Carbines operate from a "Closed Bolt." The ONLY UZI Carbines to operate from an "Open Bolt" are the Full Auto Guns.
Both the Model A and the Model B Carbines operate and shoot with the same accuracy. The Model A sights are more difficult to operate when adjusting them. Do a "Search" for "UZI on this forum and you will find some prior posts of mine that give this information. The Model B has a "Safety Modification" to the Bolt Assembly which prevents it from firing "Out of Battery" which the Model A did not have. The Model B is a "Safer Gun" because of this Modification. However, if you are following all safety practices, (Finger OFF the Trigger), you shouldn't have an "Un-Intentional Discharge" with the Model A with it "out of battery," .....but you could. It will also fire, (Model A), if the trigger is pulled.....with a round in the chamber, even if the bolt is not completely closed, and this could be a bad thing! The Modification to the Model B, made this impossible to occur. This modification can be done to the Model A, removing this Safety Defect.
The Model B is the easiest to use because of the "New" type sights it employs, and makes for a nicer overall gun to shoot and use, as gap1916 mentioned, because of the sights and its added safety measure.
I know this went beyond your question as to "Value." I'm sorry I went further, but I felt the need to "clarify" any wrong information here.

Well, first of all, you and me both know that if it can go wrong, it will! Hahahahaha!!! The worst part of an un-intended discharge with a subgun can be waiting for the magazine to get empty. Now that I'm through harassing you.......let me say this. I have looked at that and it really is simple! Wish I would have thought of it. See, the selector in a semi gun has this same piece and "locks" the bolt. The pieces were never made for the full auto.....at least before now. I think it's a super idea and I also think it should be a "requirement."
I believe in any and all safety measures and this is one of the better ones in my opinion. For $25, you absolutely cannot go wrong...Get one before they're all gone! You will be happy with it!

Thanks for the info. I think the seller's name is Chris and I will see if he has any left. I've had a couple of AD's and to tell you the truth since then I just don't enjoy shooting the Uzi as much as I did prior to them. The first time it happened I almost messed in my pants and the second time it happend I was somewhat expecting it......I hope the safety brings the enjoyment back to shooting the SMG.

Also, if you've been having AD's, be sure to check the ratchet on the top cover.....working all right? That can be a problem......
