I have a pre64 Model 88 in .308 and I like it very much.It is my primary deer rifle. It groups 1 1/4 inches at 100 yards with 180 grain Silvertips (old style). I would have no problem deciding to purchase another one if one came along at the right price.

I have owned 4 of them in .308. One of the best gun designs in my opinion ever manufactured for deer hunting.

One of the best if not the best levers ever made. Look at the prices they are bringing, very collectable. I have a new in the box never fired in case one that I hunt with ever has a problem. I like it better than any other rifle in my safe.

Got mine because I am a Lefty.
Works great, and I always liked the 243 for Pa. deer.

I have a 308 first year manufacture(72xx 1955) it's very accurate and a pleasure to look at with it's cut checkering. Don't expect a fast follow up shot though, the action on all I've ever shot has always been less than smooth. Looks though are A+ and I always make my first shot count (usually)

I have two 88s.One pre 64 and the other post 64. Aside from the cut checkering on the pre 64 I find the post 64 is a much smoother action over the pre 64.
