Mauser Claw Scope Rings
I have the chance again to buy a fine old sporting Mauser type B in 9.3x62 caliber.I was afraid of it at first because it may be an obsolete cartridge,but I found it was still around with plenty of loyal followers.The concern now is that it has no scope with the rifle and it has claw mounts.Is there any way to put rings on it without altering the original bases or spending more on it than the rifle is worth? Not that I ever heard of.....And to find a Set of Claws to Fit the Base is going to be a 1 in 1,000,000 ...You'll just have to keep looking under Tables at the Gun Shows....and advertise in the Want Ads in the Forums.....I wish You Well and may Your Search be Fruitful....

9.3 x 62 isn't obsolete. It's European. Similar to a .30-06. A net search for it turns up a whole bunch of sites with brass, dies and data. One of them may be able to put you onto a set of rings. Does the rifle have iron sights on it? They're nice rifles, so if it's got iron sights, at least you could shoot it while the ring search goes on. 0 -
As the good Captian said, you won't live long enough to locate a set of OEM claws to fit your base as these were all hand fitted at the factory and designed around whatever scope your rifles first owner had chosen. There are a few companies which offer factory made claw mounts today in single and double feet, with or without rings. You could purchase a set of these claws which more or less matche your base and have a gunsmith modify them to fit- although this will be costly. The only company that I am aware of thst offers these mounts is the German firm of AKAH. They have a distributor in England (unless your German is very good you may want to talk with someone who speaks English) and the phone number is 44-0-1326-574-747. I know of no place in the USA that offers this type of equipment. I have the AKAH catalog in front of me and they have several types of claw mounts which look promising for your Mauser.

There are a couple different styles of claw mounts, but they're very similar.
Can you sent pix, and mearurements?
I have some loose 1", 26mm, and 30mm. Some clamp on, some solderable.
Also have an aquaintance who has some. Looooooooooong shot.
You can drive yourself nuts trying to find a fit, not to mention spend alot of $$$$ that over prices the guns total value.
There is a guy who will custom make/fit them, prices range $275-$350. That's in the white, w/o polishing. Finished rings average $450-$500.
That's w/o mounting costs added.
Unless a very collectable, it isn't worth it as others have posted.

I used Jody's tip and pulled out my copy of NECG catalog and see that they offer the EAW line of rings and mounts. If you want to have your own gunsmith do the mounting work for you, you can order one of their blank scope mounts with rings (in your choice of diameter) at $70 to $100. These are in furnished "in the white" and need finishing. NECG also offers the complete mounting system for your Mauser- priced per time and materials, so get an estimate!. Remember to include the actual scope that you are planning to use as this will be regulated to your rifle. New England Custom Gun can be reached at 603-469-3450. i am trying to find out anything i can on a rifle my wife got me.it is a paul jaeger 8mm ack 8 mag.uses 338 brass. is there any way to find out how old it is?if ther is anything any can tell me about it,or maybe point in another place to find out . thank you mib. 0 -

Years back, I recall their was a custom gunmaker/gunsmith from one of the mid-atlantic states by that name who use to advertise in the "American Rifleman", circa 1950's/60's?
If it's a wildcat cartridge? I hope she got the custom reloading dies with it? If not, your up the proverbial s**t creek without a paddle. Your only hope is if it's a "improved" cartridge based on the 8mm Remington magnum. I believe that 8mm Rem Mag, is still available.0
