Remington BDL--what is the going price now days?

I have a neighbor who has a Remington BDL in 30-06, wood stock, with a Redfield 3x9 Tracker scope. The mount is a one-piece Leupold--rings are also Leupold.

The gun is sharp--very few dings--I would rate it at a strong 98%.

He wants $500 cash, which would include a sling and padded zipper case. The sling adds value to me, but I don't need the zipper case.

My question is for you guys who deal in guns: Is this a reasonable buy for a gun to keep for myself (not resell)? What would the rig sell for at a show now days...and also at a gun store?

It's been many years since I've dealt in guns, and back then, I would have given maybe $400 and sold it for $450 or so. I do realize times have changed since then.

  I think it is a fair price, especially with the Leupold mounts and the Redfield scope. I am not sure I'd consider it a "deal", but it does sound fair... I'd shoot it, if it groups well, and it is what you want - go for it. If not, wait for a steal.

  any ammo with it? the scope is $150 max (new), so keep that in mind. The rings and bases are only $40 +/-
  
  The price sounds good for everything together, but as bambihunter stated, it is right on par, not a buy and resell deal. Be sure you like it, because you will only get your money back if you turn to resell it, maybe slightly less.
