22-250and308

hello this is my first time posting anything,I hope that this is not a crazy question,I was looking through this site and I saw a gun which was a 308 but it also listed the amunition as 22-250 is this possible and if so are all 308 able to shoot 22-250 shells.I have a old 308 it was a war riffle and I would like to be able to shoot 22-250 if I can any information would be great.

  That must have been an error.A .308 is .308 Thousands of an inch in dia. as a .22/250 is .223 thousands of an inch in dia.

  I believe there is a source for sabots to load .22 cal projectiles in the .308 you might get mor info by starting a thread titled "sabbots" you would have to load your own.

  Years ago( mid 80's) I remember a sabbot for 30 caliber that shot a .22 cal 55 gr hollow point. Never tried any personally because I owned a 22-250.
  I believe but may be wrong, Remington produced it. Maybe other posters could shead more light or recommend a supplier if it is still available.
  
  The pure answer to your question is NO you can not shoot a 22-250 in a .308 or vise versa.

  remington made what was called the accelerater (sp) they are a sabbot that holds a .224 dia bullet where a different cal bullet would normally be used my only experience was with 30-30win that where loaded with .224 dia bullet dont know what other chamberings they did this in and dont know if they make them any more havent looked to see if they do or not.
  also you can not shoot a 22-250rem case in a 308win chambered rifle and vice versa..

  Cowdoc has it right. Remington produced, (and still may), a round named "Acellerator". In calibre .308 and 33-06. Fired a saboted .224 calibre projectile, (probably 55 grain SP). As I understand, were modestly successful. Never fired any myself, but have a friend that has. He liked them.

  The accelerator is still available. Check your local sporting goods dealer. If they dont they should be able to order them. I know sportsmans warehouse here has them. If I remember right you could get them for the 30-30, 30-06 and the 308. If you reload you can buy the sabots on auction, just check them all. Also do a search online and you will find them, they are still available if you look.
