HAITIAN m1924/30 mauser rifle : F.N. contract

You don't see these around too often. I believe that the entire production run was ordered by Hati in the mid 1930's, probably around 10,000 to 15,000 rifles since the home malitia, the "Volontaires da la Securite National" numbered less than 15,000 at the time. These FN Mausers stayed in service for many years and were still being rounded up during the US intervention in 1994. An interesting feature on these Hatian rifles is the small cut in the receiver face to allow the use of the longer .30-06 cartridge. The usual markings on the left side of the receiver ring says: ARMEE D'HATI, always in upper case type.
All of the Hatian rifles I've seen have a pistol grip type stock, straight bolt handle, and an interesting ribbed buttplate. I have never seen an example of a Hatian Mauser in a condition better than "good" and these sell in the $100 to $150 range. An better example would of course bring more and a new one would be sought by collectors. As I have said many times in this forum, I don't do private e-mails.
