where to buy
I am about ready(money almost saved) to purchase a new deer rifle. Any advice on where I could get a good deal on the internet or from a mail order? My local shop is pretty high and I hate to use Wal-Mart. Any ideas???? As always thanks for your replies

Hi,Besides here, I would look on www. *********** .com (type as one word) I found a new Remington 700LSS in a 7mm Ultra mag for only $560. They have quite a few reasonble buys there but it is use at your own risk type site. I bought from a reputable dealer there and had no problem.

Have you tried to deal with your local guy ? Ask him if he will match a price you have gotton on the item you want. Tell him you want to shop local and that if you need service you know hes there for you. Ill bet with that approach youll be buying the gun locally. 0 -
A local guy can't compete with a place that carries no inventory and whose shop it a tiny bit of HD space on some computer somewhere. If you buy from an internet site, you get the same after sale service you get from Walmart. That being none or very little. Have a look at the gun shows, if there are any near you. A new deer rifle doesn't have to be BNIB, new to you will do. Mind you, you'll likely see a fair number of BNIB rifles at a gun show. 0 -
If you are not in a rush watch the auctions. I ususally find two real good deals a years on here. You must check every day to find them. Good luck! 0 -
I agree, watch all the various online auction sites. I'd first figure out what you are looking for and then get aggressive and search for it every day or two.
Also, you might watch local papers or classified ads from cities close to you, some are even available online.
It doesn't matter what you shoot, just shoot it well...0 -
figure freight/fees/etc into the mix,and then go to a local guy and talk a bit.don't get demanding,'cause nuthin' gets the back of a small reatiler up as fast as someone getting in your face.Trust me on that one.
If ANY LITTLE thing goes wrong on the internet deal,you're usually the one holding the bag.Dealing local is much preferred,IMHO>
Nothing pi**es off a small shop like a guy bringing in his internet buy for a repair or boresight and having to listen to the "great deal" the customer got.LEt's keep the small shops going,and give em all the business we can....IF they're within reason on their prices and customer service.

My local dealer sells a lot of stuff on GB so he is not likely to whine when I have him do the ffl transfer[:)]. I did buy a P7 from him.
I bought a nice older 110 on GB and the total with shipping and transfer fee was $227.00. A week later another local guy has one nearly as nice for $199.00 + TX { 6 percent}. I am happier with the one I got but I would have bought that one first as doing biz with local, small timers is something I believe in as I am a small time biz man myself.
Do a check on the FFL list on the GB site and see if there are any of your local dealers listed and go to there shop and check them out.
If Wal Mart is $50.00+ cheaper then buy there. They are supporting hunting and shooting by not bowing to PC pressure.

Find what you want and at least give your local dealer first quote on the rifle. The thing is we want the local guys to stay in business. When the local gunshop closes it's doors because of online sales we will really have lost something.
What is your price range?
