Is there any chance that the mark is "MB" rather then "ME"? My reference identifies the former as a code used on K-98's produced by and for the French for a short period just after the German surrender in May 1945. This was at the main Mauser plant in Oberndorf. A lot of these rifles are also marked "svw" as they were in storage at the factory when the French took over.

Rufe-snow, I'am sure the marking is ME. The receiver is marked Brno, so it has to be Czech made. Thanks for the responce. Pablo
