savage riot gun problem
My Savage short-barrel shotgun does not eject
strongly. Yanking back hard on the slide will
dump the case out of the ejection port, but it
will drop pretty much right at my feet. If
I do not pull back hard, the case will sometimes
eject and sometimes it will just rattle around
in there. (My 870, in contrast, will throw
the case across the room.) There seem to be
two extractors on the bolt, and the right one,
the one next to the ejection port, is very
stiff. I can make it move out to the side,
but only with lots of effort. (Again, on my
870 the same extractor will wiggle to the side
with minimum effort.) Is this extractor causing
the weak ejection, and is there anything I can
do at home to fix it, or does it need to go
to a gunsmith? Thanks for any help you can
provide.

You don't say what kind of shells you're using or what caliber, but I would suspect that your "stiff" extractor is actually the ejector, and it has some crap between it and the bolt.

The ejector is pinned, meaning that a do-it-your-selfer shouldn't be taking it apart. Can't go wrong with takin' her in. 0
