I was reading the M-1 Garand problem post from FrancF and was wondering if you had any knowledge of their (Federal Ordnance Corp) M-1 Carbines. I have one that was nearly NIB when I got it about a year ago, and besides the 150 rounds I put through it, it's pretty much the same. I wa just wondering if there is anything I need to look out for later on.

Matt-As you probably know, the Federal Ordnance Corp. has been out of business for close to 20 years now. They specialized in making something out of nothing; basically rehabing junk parts into functional firearms. Sometimes the end result didn't always function perfectly! To be fair, they also made, or caused to be made, some brand new firearms; and some of their stuff was o.k. I've never heard about any specific trouble with their version of the carbine, and indeed I have 3 M-14SA rifles, one Garand, and one Mauser (that I can think of) that all function well. Another of their projects that continued on after their corporate demise with their successor (Bricklee Trading Co.) was reworked Mauser Broomhandle pistols; and these are in demand in some circles. OK Sounds good, Just wnated to know if there was any "News I could Use". I had heard that Federal's QC was all over the place- but when I got this carbine it, seemed pretty darn tight, so I snapped it up.
