Mattress holsters

Years ago I saw holsters that looked like they were just vertical holsters that had a long piece that went between the box springs and the mattress. They held the firearm close during the night. I don't see these anymore. Does anyone know anything about them? Are they any good, or do they sag or fall out? Do they have extra mag holders? Any opinions, facts, or links appreciated...
If it matters, it will be for a Glock model 20.

I posted on the general forum too, but had no real replies... Capt. Kirk, if you don't think this belongs here, sorry - just poof it. I debated on it, but I am looking for the expert, even if it is just for holsters...

  I also remember seeing them advertised, but they are no longer made.
  
  When you think about it, they don't make a lot of sense. Most guns used by criminals today were stolen from law abiding homeowners during burglaries; most home accidents involving guns are caused by unsecured guns. The only prudent way to keep a gun in your house today is to lock it in a steel safe or lock box; only then can you be reasonably sure that no unauthorized person gets his hands on it.
  
  There are several lockboxes available today that were designed to keep a gun handy in the bedroom; they use either a keypad or high security lock, and should be bolted to the floor or wall. Take a look at these.

  Thanks for your input nmeyers, they are very valid.
  However, I do either lock the gun up when I leave, or carry it with me. We do not have children, and I am a little less mobile than I should be so having the gun within easy reach of me in bed would be nice. I put the gun in my top drawer at night, and remove it in the morning (as stated above).

  I made one of those mattress holsters by taking an old cheap suede, inside the pants holster and attaching it to a peice of 1" x 6" wood about 18" long. I used small wood screws but I guess it could be glued as well. It's really just a novelty item anyway, if you don't have time to reach into a nightstand, it's too late for a gun to help you anyway. my.02

  Thanks gold, I might just make one. I recently got a belt holster that I really don't like for carry.
  I thought the describe hoster might be better than having it in the drawer because it would be a nearly silent draw. My dresser drawers are noisy to open and close.

  BH, you can also screw a strip of metal or leather to the end of a board, then you can remove your in-the-pants holster and clip it to the end of the board.

  My Kimber sleeps right beside me on the nightstand every night. Our bedroom is upstairs, and our 60 pound Chow that sleeps downstairs will give me plenty of lead time. I would respectfully modify an earlier post here.........I would agree that the only way to prevent unauthorized access to guns is to lock them up...."when you're not home" ! When I'm home, some of my weapons are very accessable.... all the time.
