trouble with my new firearm

my wife just baught me a new highpoint .380 on 2.16.03. i finally got a chance to try it out yesterday. guess what though it jams after every shot. what i can tell is that the spent round gets stuck in the barrell. then the new round comes in and presto no action. anyone else had this problem? any thoughts on the quality of this product?

  I have had some experience with HiPoint products. They are mass manufactured so some are great, some not so. They are made in the US. If youre having trouble, no matter how small of a problem, just call them. They are very friendly, and helpful in resolving any issue you may have. HiPoint is marketed by MKS supply in Dayton OH.   In another thread a member mentioned that polishing the feedramp and/or changing ammo might improve the function and correct some of the common problems associated with HiPoints.

  well i played with the gun some more and found that the catridge is sticking in the barrell! i had to use the rubber end of a pencil to take several rounds out.

  Sounds as though either the casing is bulging and it can't eject or the extractor is defective or...both, LOL. First, try a different ammo type, what are you shooting through it now? If that dosen't solve the issue then I'd assume the extractor is either broken or defective and send it back to Hi-Point for repairs or replacement.

  Before any of that, try cleaning the chamber with solvent and a 9mm/.38 Spcl. phospher coated brush (Or even a worn out 40cal/10mm brush). Wipe it out real well with a clean rag and repeat at least once, wipe out the chamber with a little oil on the rag, and then with a clean rag several times.
  No need to really ream it out, or force a really large brush in there, but if it's brand new, perhaps there is some grease or other crapola in the chamber making it a tight fit?

  These guns are very sensitive to flinching. You must hold the gun down so that the slide gets the full benefit of the recoil forces to
  fully eject the spent cartridge. You might want to check the extractor for engagement of the cartridge rim as well.

  I have heard not so good things about the win. clean. I dont know much about it but dont shoot it though my gun.

  TAMEZTRIBE GET ANOTHER GUN NOT TRYING TO BE FUN BUT I CONSIDER THEM TO BE JUNK IF THE GUN IS NEW TAKE IT BACK AND TELL THEM THE PROBLEM WITH IT GET YOUR MONEY BACK ARE TRADE IT FOR SOMETHING BETTER YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT.
