one of my more prized possessions....
this is something that was given to me by my grandfather years ago. i have never seen anything else like it, and everyone is quite amazed by it. thought i'd share a pic and see if anyone knows anything about it. it's made from a large shell. not sure what from.

World War 1 era "TRENCH ART". Wasn't uncommon at one time. Kinda scarce now. Never seen one like yours. It's nice, treasure it, specially since it came from your Grandpa. 0 -
The common name for this stuff is "trench Art". Original stuff made by soldiers (both sides did this) to kill time. Some of it is quite inventive...some run of the mill. I I have seen Sailing ships, various aircraft,and a multitude of Cigarette lighters and lots of lamps.
Your piece is different, I have been collecting this stuff for over 40 years and havent seen one like it although that is not unusual given the hand made nature of the items.
Cant place a value on it...look at the markings on the bottom of the shell for any info0 -

I have a trench art knife, 6-8 inches long, dry old wood handle, blade from some other knife or a thin file, and hasp made of flattened food or ammo tins. 0 -
