Who knows about Veretti Rifles?

I have confirmed that this is in fact what I have in my care but still have some questions about this variation. This particular model has an 1877 date stamped on it but has a box magazine with a turning mechanism that appears to block the rear of the magazine for single shot loading. Information indicates this may be a conversion. The other differenc is the rear sight. Itis much larger/longer that shown on others and has calibration marks from 4 to 18 (meters?)while the pictures I've seen are only calibrated up to 10. If I understood correctly there are rimfire and centerfire variations to this gun . this happens to be the centerfire an I've seen 10.5mm and .41 caliber listed but have no idea which this is. Anybody have any information to add?

  Apparently from your description you have a Italian, VETTERLI - VITALI Model 1870-87 Rifle.
  This is a Model 1870 Vetterli Rifle that has been converted to take a Vitali magazine.
  The "Longer Rear Sight" dates from 1890 when the original Black Powder Rifles were converted to Smokeless.
  The cartridge for this rifle is the 10.35 x 47 rimmed, Italian centerfire rifle round.

  pics and a few paragraphs on the Vetterli-Vitali conversions. If
