Browning B-2000 vs 2000
I am awaiting mail delivery on a barrel (2-3/4" chamber for a friend's shotgun that I bought at web auction) for a Browning B-2000. Yesterday afternoon during cocktail & gun b.s. hour at Charley's Saloon it was suggested that the B-2000 and 2000 are two different items. No one in attendance owned or had ever even shot one, and I am doubtful. I am aware of some close/different Browning nomenclatures such as the A-500 (short recoil) vs A-500R (recoil) vs A-500G (gas operated) but I am unaware of more than one 2000 series other than the Trap/Skeet models. Does anyone at this forum know of any distinctions that would prevent any Browning 2000 barrel from working on any Browning 2000 receiver? If this replacement barrel I've got coming (it is a 2-3/4" to replace a 3") resembles the original barrel and makes up to the receiver, surely there should be no danger to the machinery if I fired a few rounds through it, eh? Just a thought, there was a B-80, also a gas-operated semi auto imported by Browning during the same time frame. Both were assembled in Portugal, but were completely different guns. Is it possible their being confused? 0
