Help with rapped fire gizmo
I was at the gunshow today,and saw a guy selling a gizmo you put on your trigger gaurd,a spring loaded thing that works on recoil,it is not the kind you crank.Is what it does is truns your 10/22 ar-12,AK,sks ect into a rapped fire,almost full auto.BUT,I can't remeber the name of the thing. Can anyone tell me what the name of it is,and also,do they work as good as they did on the video they where showing ??? Thanks for your help.Oro

Try names like Hellfire, Hellstorm, Hellburst- oh the hell with it. I have yet to ever hear from anyone that they were able to get any where close to the performance shown in those videos, although a few did manage a short burst or two with much effort. We have had posts on these items on GB before and most people thought that these thing were a waste of money. I wound up with two Hellfire devices which came in a boxed lot I purchased on auction and I could never get the things to work correctly on an AR-15- if it could be made to work at all. The instructions kept talking about the device creating a "static trigger condition" and gave tips on how to make this happen. It never did for me, although at that time I had a couple of live M16 restricted sales samples so it was no great loss.

I tried to install one for a friend of mine on an M1 Carbine; I'm pretty good with mechanical things, but couldn't get it to work. It looked to be both a poor design and poorly manufactured.
My opinion, the best thing to do if you want to "simulate" full-auto fire is to get a SAR-1 and learn to "bump fire" it. Other semi-autos can be bump fired, but I'm told (and based upon my limited experience trying it) the "AK" variant rifles are easiest.
If you're not familiar with "bump-firing" start another thread with the question: "What is bump-firing?" Others here can probably explain how to do it better than I can.0 -
I had a "Tac-Trigger". It took 15 minutes to get it securely mounted on my sks. It took 15 seconds to realize that I had wasted 40$.

Guess I got the only one that works! The one I got was from a friend that couldn't make it work after a solid hour of toying with it.
Took the curvy part and snapped it on the trigger guard of my 10-22, put the springy thing on the trigger face and lightly tapped out all 25 rds. It was cool! Kinda wasteful, though, all those rounds, looking for a target they'll never reach.

I had a gizmo back in the 80's that was a lever assembly that could be put on the trigger guard and trigger. It fired when pulled and fired when pushed. Made an AR-15 fire almost as fast as a full-auto and with good accuracy. The only problem was it was plum dangerous. Too easy to bump and have an accidental discharge. I got rid of the silly thing before someone got shot.

Most all these sorts of devices are based on the "bump" method, which can be accomplished on many guns without any device. Occasionally the device will help you "get the hang" of bumping, but most often, if you have a few semi-autos available, you will find one that is a natural bumper. I got a Hell-Fire and I must be lucky too. It works well on my Hungarian AK and a 9mm AR-15. Although you must hold it loosely and just spray, no aiming.

Oro: Save your money and use it on ammo learning to bump fire your rifle. Once you find out how to manipulate your rifle to bump fire it is somewhat anticlimatic after 2 or 3 clip are emptied $$$$$$$$.
The only device that I saw working was a "crank" type that a fellow had on a 10/22 which was quite impressive.
I have watched some guys bump fire with much consistency and with a fair amount of accuracy considering. Could be a good technique to know for suppression fire if ever being over run. I do it occasionally with my Mini 14 but it turns an hour of shooting into a few seconds or to a few minutes.
Just my experience.
