I have an old 10/22 that I'm looking into getting a target barrel for. I also want to get a thumb hole stock for it. What would be the best brand of barrel to go with?? And does anyone know were I can find online? Shilen,Butler Creek,Adams & Bennett, Volquartsen.
Thanks

I personally think Volquartsen ( http://volquartsen.com/ )is the best, but not the cheapest. I like green mountian and butler creek for the money (bass pro or cabelas).
One thing you need to consider is whether your wanting to replace the stock also. If your factory stock is for the standard weight barrel, then you will either have to have the barrel channel widened to accomodate the heavier barrel, or buy another stock. You can also get higher-quality barrels that will fit in the factory channel. Volquartsen also makes a muzzle-weighted barrel that uses the factory stock channel, but then widens to a heavy-barrel diameter. This gives the gun a nice barrel-heavy feeling. I personally shoot front-heavy rifles much better than standard ones.
Good luck - 10/22's are great guns (factory or fixed up)
It doesn't matter what you shoot, just shoot it well...0 -
