S&W 500 Magnum

Anyone handle one of these yet? How does it balance? What about ammo, who is making it, how much does it retail for, what bullet weight is the factory ammo, any reloading dies out there yet? Looks like an awesome cartridge! I gotta have one!

  There are a couple of posts and links over on the GD board. Check back a day or two. Very little about the specs for the round itself. Projectile is in the 440 gr. range. No idea what factory muzzle velocity is. They do list muzzle energy at well over 2000 foot pounds. If you're better at math than I am, which ain't hard, you might be able to extrapolate a ballpark mv. I would assume an 8 3/8 in barrel.

  Heres the skinny on these from what I have heard. Price tag should be around $750.00 . The performance center version $1000-$1200. Ammo is around $45.00 for 15 so I have heard. Gun will be out in 2 months . Hope this helps !

  I've not heard of this one yet?? Has it been written up in any of the magazines?

  The Dallas Morning News had a write up about it Fri. FEB.14.
  Said it's gonna come out the chute at $985.00 Has an 8 in. barrel
  and about three times the power of the 44 mag. and will shame the 454.
  They also said it would mean big problems for law enforcement agencies stating that Police officers would not be protected from such a round. They act as if eveyone will have one now.
  
  With that kind of price and that long of a gun, I DON'T
  see "saturday night special" written anywhere on this gun.

  ATF HOW MANY ROUNDS DO IT HOLD AND DO IT COME WITH A PORTED BARREL SOUNDS LIKE IT NEEDS IT.

  Holds five rounds has a ported barrel and weighs about 70 ozs.
