Ruger P-85 sights

Have you tried other ammo? The stuff you are using is pretty hot (not recommended by Ruger). I've used various standard and +P ammo for years in my P-89 and have gotten good results. Usually very hot rounds do not give very good accuracy.

Before going to the trouble and expense of altering your front sight (not usually a good idea) I would try some of the offerings from Remington, Fedeal, or even Blazer. While I believe all pistols benefit from adjustable sights, your twenty yard 6-8" over height probabbly won't be fixed by a rear sight change. I suggest your ammo is too hot for accuracy and sure not good for your gun, if you shoot much.

    Those are my thoughts.

    Good shooting. [;)]

    MT,

I can't give you any specific advice on your sight question, but can tell you that when I've talked to Ruger Customer Service they've told me that the P-series pistols are designed to handle +P+ rounds. That said, I'm sure a constant diet of +P+ is going to be harder on the gun than standard or just +P ammo.

    I've found Corbon's 115gr +P to shoot great in my P-series.

MT, sorry, but I don't have sight fix info ither, but I have a P-85 as well. The hotter ammo was a bit hi for me also. I adjusted by sight alingment with the front bead down in the rear sight. But I liked it alot better using standard ammo and using the full sight. Yes the groups where better with standard loads, I like PMC the best in my 85. I am no target master, but I do get consistant 2" groups at 20 yards with the PMC factory stuff.
