info on shotgun
I have an old shot gun I would like some info on and a value.
Its condition is about 80%-85% I would guess,the only area that is not in good condition is the stock...inside where the triggers assembly fits there is a part of the stock that has cracked and make the stock a little loose. Also some very light rust pitting on the barrels,otherwise its in good condition
It's a side by side with double triggers.
On each side it is engraved with a bird dog.
On the top of the reciever under the left barrel its stamped with the serial no. 40XXX PAT'D
and under the right barrel its stamped with
a 12.
On top of the left barrel its stamped with Western Arms Corp.Ithaca,NY between two arrows.
Ontop of the right barrel its stamped Long Range gun between two arrows.
On the bottom of the left barrel its stamped LHH 4+ and the serial no.
On the bottom of the right barrel its stamed LLH 2+ 2 3/4 chamber.

Several years ago I bought an O/U shotgun made by the A.V. Maroccini Company in Italy. It was imported through F.I.E. The shotgun is a 20 ga w/ 3" chambers. I have not been able to find any additional information on it. On other forums I posted the same questions and kept getting information on another maker that made EXPENSIVE shotguns- I know it was not the ones I have!

Looks like nobody wants to jump in, so here goes. Your gun is a "private label" Ithaca (or Lefever). I don't have my Blue Book handy, so I can't tell you which one. Regardless, it's an exact duplicate of one or the other, made for Sears (I think) and sold under the Western Field name. Little or no collector value. The 4 and 2 denote choking. 0 -
Spot on as far as Ithaca goes. It was a low priced utility gun. Engraving is rolled in. Only in VERY good condition will there be collector interest... Above 95%.
Don't know about the Western Field connection, but the gun was very much like a Stevens and probably priced about the same.
