what would be a good muzzleloader with pretty good range and is also at an affordable price for a 15 year old

  hi i was wondering if anybody could help with
  a rifle i have come across it is a .50 cal muzzleloader
  the markings on it are augusthirth enterprise
  pittsburg pa ewm ceaner faust length is 42" it
  is very heavy looks like some sort of target model
  i dont pay much attention to these guns my cousin
  has it and has asked for my help thanks a lot

  Yes, on all but certian models.
  An incomplete list is the Savage 10 (I think that is the one that shoots smokeless powder, but is loaded through the muzzle), and the Thompson Center Encore.
  
  Guns that do not have interchangeable barrels, use only blackpowder or its alternative, and load ONLY from the muzzle (or cylinder in the case of revolvers) do not need registered. All current sidelocks and flintlocks don't need anything.
  The Knights, CVA's, Remington's, Winchester, Ruger, and MDM's do NOT.
  
  I'm sure one of the FFL guys (especially Mark Christian) here can give you the exact models of the ones that do (most people tell me the Savage does not require it, but both of the FFL's that I go to locally require it - so I listed it).
  
  I personally really like the Remington 700ML, but the CVA's are hard to beat for the money!
  
  It doesn't matter what you shoot, just shoot it well...

  you may run into dealers that will only ship to a other FFl just to cover their back side ,,

  The current Savage, the 10ML2, is legally a muzzleloader. It has been on the market for 2 and 1/2 years now. ATF had ruled that the first model was a firearm, but it has not been manufactured since 2000. By the same token, there are plenty of Finnish M39s, a bolt action rifle from WW2, that are antiques. You simply remove the barrel from the stock to read the date of manufacture on the bottom of the tang. Many of these were built prior to 1899 and I have two of them. Nevertheless, most dealers sell all M39s as modern firearms and require FFL paperwork.
