Colt 1911 Series 70 vs 80
What is the functionality difference between a 70 & 80? Is it the firing pin safety only? Other than that, is there anything else that makes them more desireable/valuable?
Reason I ask, I have 5 Combat Commanders.
3 Satin Nickel 70's
1 Blue 70's
1 80's
I'm trying to 'thin the herd' but I'm torn as to which one or two to sell or trade off. The Series 80 is in the best condition.

I have owned both of these guns and the only difference I could see was the added firing pin safety. I have been told that these guns have a worse trigger pull because of the safety but I could not tell the difference.

Ampersand is right. There are those out there, however, that don't like the series 80. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I guess. Series 80s tend to go for less $ than the 70s. 0 -
What do factory original grips for a Series 70 Satin Nickel look like? 0 -
As I recall mine came with uncheckered wood panels in a somewhat light color with a rough texture.
