For that you can get a new Remington model 700 if you are not already set on the semi's.

Actually, for that kind of money, you can get about any brand civilian rifle you want. For hunting only, the military 308s are too heavy and clumsy, and hard to scope. I have an M1A and a FN FAL, and enjoy shootin 'em, they will last forever, and are pretty accurate. But if you want a semi-auto, go with a Remington or Browning, i've had 5 of the old Winchester 100 Semi-auto 308s over the years, and they are finike, some work well, others don't, I'd leave them alone.

i have a winchester model 70 stealth and a remington 700 VS both in .308 and they are very accurate the only problem with the winchester is find a .308 in the stealth model it took me almost a whole year to find one but the remington shoots just as well if not better just my two cents [:D][:D][:D][}:)][:D][:D]

Take a look at the Gibbs Extream number II and III. Not a bad little shooter for the money. It is bolt action and holds 10rd if needed. My 2 cents [8D]

Remington 7400 Semi or bolt 700.

Savage has gotten a lot of good press lately as well. After you get the trigger work done to match the Rem you may have the same amount invested.

Even at 50 yards what is the cost of missing? With a crap Military knock off? JMHO
