Help with Serial Number Model 70

I am in possession of a Model 70 Classic Sporter in 300 Win. Mag. WITH boss. The serial number is 112xxx.

Anyone help me with a definite year of manufacture.

I have attempted to determine the year but cannot verify for sure. Ruls's book says 1972 for this number but a later description for the classic sporter says 1993 unless I am reading it wrong.

  1993 would be more like it as the BOSS was a recent addition to both Browning and then Winchester firearms. 1993 may even be a bit early.

  Rockton, do you know if the rifle is original with the boss....That serial # would put it earlier than 1993, but the boss being on there messes with that notion......If it is factory with the boss, then I would have to agree with 1993/94....Just my 2 bits DD2b

  rockton, Winchester started the "Model 70 Classic" in all models in 1994, featuring a pre 64 style action with controlled round feeding.
  
  "Model 70 classic sporter LT" in 300WM 1994-2000
  
  "Model 70 classic Sm Boss" in 300WM 1995-96 only
  
  I can't say if either of these models is what you have, and I can't find that ser.# after 1994. But if it is marked "Classic" it is 1994 or later. Hope this helps.
