.45 for carry, opinions wanted
I'm look to buy a .45 acp. Criteria .... carry / concealment. I like the Springfield UltraComp PX915, Kimber ultra carry II but unsure about the "beavertail". The S&W 4516 looks small and smooth ... same with the Glock 36. The Taurus PT145 looks like a player in this field, I don't know how it stands up to the others. As for Ruger ..... Their web site "SUCKS" .... no info... so I Probably won't consider them. All opinions and info will be greatly appriciated as I will be buy one soon.

A lot depends on the size of your hands, the rounds you want to carry etc. I don't think the real chopped down 1911s are likely to be reliable. I'd recommend a Commander sized 1911 or a Glock 30 if you want to have enough rounds for a serious confrontation ready to go.

If you want a carry gun, get the Colt Defender. Its the lightest and very accurate and dependable. They hold 7+1 or 8+1 if you get the Defender plus.[^] 0 -
As for size, I wear a medium glove. I shoot my AMT .45 backup, Tarus Titianum .41 mag. (man, I love that one), Ruger Blackhawk .357, (alot, of rounds through that one) Beretta 84m .380 double stack ... all without any problems. As for ammo .... Win. STX, Cor-Bon, Black Talon. I don't know which, but I'll find one that the gun likes and will surely do the job. 0 -
Considering you'll carry it a lot more than you'll shoot it, other than range time, go with the Glock. On weight alone. The only pistol that Smith makes that's any good is the Model 41. It's a .22 though. Look at the Ruger despite their web page. They want to get you into their dealer's stores. Good solid firearms, IF they fit your hand.
Personally, if I had to carry a pistol, it'd be my Colt Government Model .45. Works every time, provided the ammo is good. Fits my hand, I know where it shoots and I can carry one without the world knowing. It's the holster as much as the gun.0 -
IF you can find one check out a Colt CCO 45 they are light small and acurate.
If force ain't work'n... Your not use'n nough of it0 -

Another thing to consider is budget. 0 -
Wilson KZ45 Compact. It may be a little bigger than you are looking for, maybe not. I would look at it because it holds 10 rounds and the build quality, accuracy and reliablity are top-notch.
