Hate to see you go unanswered, and can't really help you as I live in Oregon. You have the basis for an acceptable pistol, and you are correct that it's just a matter of properly fitting the safety/sear/hammer. As far as I know the parts are standard specs., so if something was ruined by a klutz at the factory the gunsmith you are seeking should be able to set it straight with U.S.-made replacement parts. It's too bad that you have to pay for repairs on a new pistol. Have you checked to see if there is a U.S. based factory warranty repair facility? Anyway, I'll send this "back to the top" and maybe a PA contributor will see it this time.

Thanks for the info. This is one of those situations where you buy something and stick it in the gun closet while you do other things. I got a slew of new toys and wasn't too focused on my new 1911. I don't remember it acting that way when I got it, so i think something was marginal from the factory.

In any event, I'm just wanting to get it fixed -- it's a lovely pistol.[:D]

I'll send it almost anywhere, I just know there aren't many places in NY/NJ/CT to get it fixed and figured PA is the best option!

    thanks
