My book says that "U. S. REVOLVER" was a "Trade Name" used by Iver Johnson on inexpensive pocket revolvers.

the u.s.revolver co. handguns were manufactured by iver johnson's arms & cycle works between 1910 and 1935. there were two different types a top break and a solid frame with a pull pin cylinder release.

are you sure the caliber is .38 the only 6 shot u.s. revolver co. i know of is a large solid frame chambered for the .32 s&w long cartridge.

if you can furnish a complete description and the serial number found under the left grip panel (with letter code if any) i believe i can give you a year of manufacture.

I have an old hammerless top break U.S. Revolver Co. revolver in .38 S&W that is a 5 shot with black plastic grips.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.<BR>

    ajb101,
if the cylinder has six chambers it is .32 s&w long, if it has 5 chambers it is .38 s&w. the u.s. revolver co. double action was not manufactured in a 6 shot .38 s&w. they were manufactured in three frame sizes and four calibers; small frame .22 rf 7 rds., medium frame .32 s&w short 5 rds, large frame .32 s&w long 6 rds and .38 s&w 5 rds.
