Grendel P-30 22 Mag
I try and do research before I bother you experts, however the only info. I could gather on Grendel's was that many of them were designed by the same individual who either formed or now designs guns for KelTec which is a pretty innovative line. Is this P-30 a product of this individual(I misplaced his name) and is it a realiable, DAO, or DAO/Single action firearm. Is it rare or is it more or less a low end non-collectable type firearm?

George Kelgren is the gentleman your speaking of . It's my understanding that he was the designer of the Grendel firearms.
When Grendel went belly-up in the mid 90's, he started his own business, the very famous and innovative KELTEC organization.
As far as the Grendel .22 mag. pistol your refering to. There were 12,600 made over the 4 years between 1990 & 1994. Unfortunately the folks at KELTEC disavow any responsibility for them! There have been many treads on the Keltec Forum concerning this point.
If you do buy it, it's going to be a orphan, without any manufacturing support!0 -
VERY nice little shooter, some firing pins were sold without proper heat treatment, some slides will jump the rails on the early guns (WOW!), and rear sights are only drift-adjustable; but all-in-all an innovative and ingenious design by ol' George.

I have a p-30 that work admirably. I have never seen an uglier pistol, but it functions perfectly and holds 30 rounds. It is loud, but otherwise I don't find it unpleasant to shoot. Last I heard they were going in the $450 range with mags getting $50+, so with about a hundred rounds through mine I quit shooting it. Planning to sell it when I retire and go to Europe for a couple of years on the proceeds.[:p] 0 -
HE DOG.. You said "loud" >>> I beg to differ.. it is L O U D!!!!! Darnest thing on a firing line.. Folks think you have some kind of hand cannon! It was obviously louder than a mag-na-ported 357 Pyton, and a Ruger 44! Seems Grendal found a way to convince a 22 mag round into thinking like the Big Boys!
I have 2 of the P-30s.. the one I fired functioned without flaw as long as it was kept clean. I likes solid nose over HP ammo.. (This thing eats ammo like a pig!) Accuracey was acceptable and the fun factor was on target!
I have also retired both the fired and unfired guns for future sale, along with 16 mags! [:D]
