question about a J Stevens mod 325 12 ga dobble

My questions are

1.how old is it?

2.is it safe to shoot moderen 2 3/4 loads

3 what's it worth?


what I know is it's what's written on the gun

Is what is written on the left side plate exactly
and 6539 on some internal parts

There are two sets of ingraving on each barrel one at the end of the receiver and one about 1/2 inch from the front where you load.

The gun condition is fair to poor the wood is chipped at the rear of the reciver and the metal is missing some blue and looks stained but no pitting.

Also would this gun require a FFL transfer if sold as there are no serial numbers and no other markings other than what I listed.

  The inscription "J. STEVENS A & T CO." was used between 1886 and 1916 on Stevens firearms.
  Only a COMPETENT gunsmith could make a determination if the shotgun was safe to fire, especially if the shotgun was made in the late 19th for Black Powder shells!
  From YOUR description my book gives a value between $250 & $350.
  As you don't know specifically it was made before 1898 and it doesn't have a serial number, I wouldn't fool around with the Feds. Don't take any chances, ship it through a FFL.
