I have a Rockola M1 Carbine with the barrel stamped.

    I was wondering if anyone knew a left handed saftey lever is avalible for the M1 Carbine or if its possible for the existing lever to be fliped around so it can be better opperated by a left-handed shooter.

    Do not listen to what some people tell you about the Universal. If you can find a early one it will have USGI parts and be a good shooter. I have one with a low serial number and have not had any problems with it. The early one have one recoil spring while the newer ones have 2.

    Look at the IMI carbine. It shoots very well and is made with new parts not refurbished military parts. My 2 cents [8D]

    Late model Universal's and IMI's are of iffy quality. Of the civilian copies the Plainfield's are the best. Yu can get a military issue carbine without paying a month's wages but you'll have to look for it. There are some guys who won't touch anything but issue carbines with all the "correct" parts. Silly if you ask me. 99% of all carbines went through a rebuild at some time. This was done by real armourers who knew what they were doing and had access to good parts. No matter what you end up with, shooting a carbine is great fun. Just be ready for the brass to go into the twilght zone regularly.
